I forgot how tiring the camino is. If someone told me I”d be collapsing into bed at 9.30 each night, I would have said they were crazy. But here I am. It’s 8:10pm and I’m ready to curl up in my sleeping bag. It’s not because I’m having trouble sleeping with all the snorers either. I’m just wearing myself out each day.
The women I’ve been walking with all seem filled with energy – but they have been training! I haven’t. I can do the walks, but I’m much more tired and sore than they are.
So my advice to you all the potential peregrinos out there… try to get as much training in as possible. Even an hour or two at the gym each week will make a difference.
Hi Tara
It was so good to meet you this year on the camino. I started on May 1st in SJPdP. I would give out my card a lot and apparently Kerri from Brisbane told me at coffee last week that we all knew each other. Life gets so busy at home that this is the first chance I’ve had to look up your fabulous site.
I’ve never done Orison and I appreciated your honest review. I’ve always gone to the Valcarlos albergue and loved that. We are in charge of ourselves for 7e and eat or buy from town shops. It is 14 klms to get there which cuts it more evenly to get to Roncevallos.
Maybe I’ll do it in 2020………….for the 4th Camino Francis. So in 2019 I’m hoping & researching the Portuguese Way from Lisbon. I’ve become a camino enthusiast too.
Yes you did seem overly tired ……….it was great to meet you
love Miki
